Pinkberry Marina Del Rey - Now Open

I had some frozen yogurt today at the newly opened Pinkberry in Marina Del Rey on Lincoln and Maxella. I snapped this exterior shot just minutes before the man in the photo stuck a "photography prohibited" sign in the window.

I bet he put the sign in the window because of all of the faux pinkberry places popping up!

There's nothing they can do to prevent you of taking a picture of the place, short of going to court and trying to get a restraining order preventing you from coming near the place. And then, there's still telephoto lenses. What is up with this insane hatred/fear or photography?

I got the "stink eye" for taking a picture of out-of-town friends inside the store. Their policy is nuts, and I told them so in an email to corporate. No response, which I think is par for the course, considering how many customer service issues that's being written about them online. In this day and age of camera phones, flickr, and youtube, why wouldn't you want your customers buzzing about you online with photos and videos. It only helps feed the frenzy, don't you think?

Why does Pink Berry Hate our Freedom...?

And now officially overrun. Was there today at 3.00 and the line was well out the door. Love me my Pinkberry, so of course I waited...ordered a large original to go, but asked for a taste of the green tea -just a little something something to whet the instant appetite. Glad I did, cuz...

The green tea was all fukked up. Too icy and harsh, not sweet like it should have been. So I asked - hey, have you tasted this? They thought maybe I just didn't know what green tea yogurt was supposed to taste like. So I insisted they try it themselves, and sure enough the consensus was "all fukked up." While they went about repairing whatever had gone wrong, the place ground to a complete halt. Oy. And I thought the line was long when I got there...

I shudder to think about the clusterf*ck that awaits the Abbot Kinney PB that's in the works...

Hmmm? That's so peculiar about the NO PHOTOS sign!
I've been to the Larchmont Pinkberry several times and have taken photos. You can see them here:

HOWEVER, the last time I was there I did notice the sign. You'd think that Pinkberry would want people to take photos of their shops. They go to such great lengths to decorate and make them distinctive and hip looking! Harumph.

I do love the stuff though...my fave: Vanilla w/choco chips and granola!

Had some yesterday and was shocked to see that the Green Tea flavor was an entire $1 more than Vanilla (at the small size).

Personally, I think this is ridiculous. It's all flavored powder, anyway. At any other similar asian cafe with powdered vanilla and green tea drinks, there is no difference in price. With this wack pricing model and its current over-expansion, I'll be happy to see Pinkberry meet its maker soon, ala Krispy Kreme.

The new Pinkberry opened in Downtown Long Beach where I too have a franchised ice cream store. I was curious as I had heard all the "buzz" about Pink Berry so I went to check it out. No long lines in front of this store. What I found was a group of people behind the counter, laughing, talking and totally ignoring me, the customer, who had just entered the store. Finally after several seconds, one of the gossipy workers broke away and stared at me as if to say "Yeah, what do YOU want". Clearly I was interupting her bitchfest. The music was blaring. I was not offered any sample of the product or given any "Hello, how are you? Have you tried Pink Berry, would you like a sample". Rather I was given the once over and the impression I needed to verify who I was and whether I was "worthy" to buy the holy grail of fro' yo. At that point, I was pissed off. As a fellow Downtown Long Beach business owner, one who also sells ice cream, I am well aware of the tough Health Dept laws, which I did not see being followed at Pink Berry. Also, they apparently think themselves above having to post any Health Inspection report on their door as required by the Health Dept. I found the entire place, plastic, cold, pretensious and overpriced. I agree with the prior poster, they will since over saturate the market and go the way of Krispy Kreme. By the way, Bree, I love this site. I've found your reviews helpful. I love to cook and eat too.

Pinkberry’s awful, it’s full of sugar. There’s 16 teaspoons of sugar in the large, 10 teaspoons in the medium. Blaahhh!!

They are legally not allowed to stop you from taking pictures. Even if they claim it is their property, there really are only renting from the developer. One time I went to the Rancho Cucamonga store and they told my friend to erase his pictures. Umm, yeah, that's a little shady. So please, take pictures when you want, IT'S YOUR RIGHT!!!!
